Financial advisors who want to compete in today’s marketplace are quickly learning about the value of content on their websites. Offering your prospects compelling content is the best way to grab and hold their attention, increase your website traffic, and turn leads into new clients.

video cameraTwenty percent of website viewers who land on your website will read your written content – which is actually a very promising statistic considering how easy it is to simply click the “back” button on internet browsers. But even written content pales in comparison to video, which we have discovered to be the most valuable tool for distributing information online. Did you know that 80 percent of viewers who land on your website will watch your videos? That’s quite a big difference from the one in five who read your blogs.

Consider these statistics from LifeHealthPro:

  • A video increases understanding of your produce or service by 74 percent.
  • 90 percent of internet users say video helps them make a decision.
  • If your website contains video content, it is 50 times more likely to appear on the first page of search engine results.
  • 64 percent of viewers are more likely to purchase a product or use a service after watching a video.
  • 80 percent of viewers remember videos they have watched online

Keep in. mind that your video does not need to be overly long or complex. We often find that simply introducing yourself and explaining your services is a great way to get your foot in the door with many prospects. After seeing your face and hearing your voice, viewers feel as though they have already “met” you. Since most people prefer to do business with someone they know, video can serve as your way to get a virtual leg up on the competition.

Considering the above statistics, it’s easy to see how adding even just one video to your website could dramatically multiply your lead generation. This isn’t to say that written content isn’t still important (it is). But if you aren’t including video on your website, you’re missing out on a valuable opportunity to build your audience and reputation.
